Here’s what Buresh said about what to look for:

  • Storms firing off Wednesday afternoon inland along the sea breeze and cold front that’s moving inland down the coast and from the Atlantic.
  • Temperatures falling into the 70s at the Beaches vs. 80s to 90s inland except for areas that see rain.
  • The heaviest storms will be between Interstate 95 and U.S. 301 through 5 p.m. They will shift west of U.S. 301 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. then slowly diminish well inland through 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Only western Duval County, west of Interstate 295, will see heavy storms, though some light rain may make it to I-95 while the Beaches stay dry.
  • Storms will produce gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail for parts of Baker, Columbia, far western Duval, Clay, Bradford and Union counties.
  • The weather will be calming down late evening into overnight except for some coastal showers toward sunrise.
