Flagler Hospital launches first telehealth clinic at Publix pharmacy

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — If you feeling a little under the weather,  there's a new Telehealth clinic in St. Johns County that might be able to help, and it'll only take 10 minutes.

Nancy Essegian just moved to St. Johns County with her husband from Winston, North Carolina.

While shopping, she noticed the new Telehealth Clinic at her Publix in Nocatee.

"Walking in today, I saw the sign outside, so yeah, I was interested," Essegian said.

In March, Flager Health+ and Publix announced the partnership.
Doctors said it gives patients the chance to cut down their wait time and skip going to an emergency room or waiting in an urgent care office if they just aren't feeling well.

"You have better access in here to be able to get pharmacy medication filled right away and be out the door," said Dr. Todd Batenhorst with Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine.

All residents have to do is go inside the small clinic, follow the prompt and enter their vitals. They'll be connected to a doctor from a clinician group in Tampa.

These small walk-in clinics give patients the tools they need to see if they have a skin raise, ear ache, or issues with their lungs or heart.

"Pretty common things that folks end up having and usually they don't have the ability to say, 'OK, I can go see the doctor at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.' They might need to see them at 10 o'clock at night or at 7 o'clock on a Saturday morning," Dr.  Batenhorst said.

Essegian said the other day, her husband was complaining of wrist pain.

Now she's thinking of having him check out the Telehealth clinic.

"It sounds very easy," Essegian said.

It costs $59 to use the Telehealth clinic, regardless of insurance coverage. To enter, all users have to do is let the pharmacist know that they want to use the clinic.
