The race will begin and end at Operation New Hope’s offices in historic Springfield, located at 1830 N. Main Street.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to register and enjoy a brand-new route through the neighborhood that takes participants down tree-lined streets, past homes dating back to the early 1900s and along sections of the Emerald Trail.

After the race, Strings Sports Brewery will host the Hope Starts Here 5K “Breakfast and Brews” celebration for members of a sponsored team and participants who successfully raise at least $200 through peer-to-peer fundraising.

Proceeds from the race will support the nonprofit organization’s efforts to build safer communities, stronger economies and more stable families through programs such as workforce training, mental health services and job placement for people affected by the criminal justice system.

“Whenever someone crosses a finish line in their life — whether it’s a personal goal, a professional accomplishment or a 5K with friends and family — it has the power to inspire hope in someone else,” said Reggie Fullwood, president of Operation New Hope. “For over 20 years, our organization has worked to build a stronger community by creating opportunities for people with a criminal history to realize second chances by reconnecting to the workforce. Together with our partner FLCBank, we look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new friends to Springfield to see where hope starts for the 800+ people we serve each year.”

FLCBank was founded to provide solutions that support the financial success of businesses and their owners. After learning about the positive outcomes of Operation New Hope’s programs for job seekers and employers alike, members of the bank’s community engagement team toured the organization’s offices to garner a stronger understanding of their work.

That meeting led to a partnership that bank leaders hope will encourage other businesses to give back to the neighborhoods they call home.

“Through our philanthropic engagement and volunteer efforts, FLCBank provides meaningful support to organizations that help to make the communities where we live and work stronger and better for all of our citizens,” said Mark Johnson, president and CEO of FLCBank. “We are honored to stand beside Operation New Hope, and congratulate all of their program participants in taking steps to improve their opportunities in life. This event represents a step forward in making Jacksonville’s economy one where second chances are celebrated every day.”

Registration is not too late and is open through 1st Place Sports.
