In a letter sent to FDLE, DeSantis asked the department to help local law enforcement with threat assessment techniques, to identify and prevent threats of violence before they happen.
He also asked that FDLE work with the Florida Department of Education to develop a central database for school threat assessment teams.
“We have entered a new era of policing,” the letter reads. “It is of paramount importance that we identify threats before they occur, and do everything within our power to prevent individuals from carrying out targeted acts of violence.”
