Florida Power & Light began demolition of portions of the Cedar Bay Power Plant off of Eastport Road in a series of controlled explosions Saturday.
The plant has been closed for the past 2 years and salvage work and deconstruction of the facility has been ongoing.
According to FPL, residents and people passing through the Oceanway area may hear loud blasts and see plumes of smoke as portions of the plant are imploded.
