Former leaders of Duval Teachers United plead not guilty to stealing millions

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two former leaders of Duval Teachers United accused of stealing more than $2.6 million from the union have plead not guilty to their charges.

DTU Former President Terrie Brady and Former Executive Vice President Ruby George each face eight counts of wire fraud and three counts of mail fraud. Brady is also facing two counts of money laundering charges.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office indictment, Brady and George had engaged in a conspiracy to steal more than $1.2 million each from DTU from 2013 to 2022. The indictment alleges that they would sell back leave time that they had not accrued or earned back, as well as providing false information to the auditors of DTU and signing each other’s checks.

The pair pled not guilty on Friday.

A jury trial is currently scheduled for Mar. 3.
