Interlachen, Fla. — A former teacher at Interlachen Junior-Senior High School is under arrest, charged with having sexually explicit photos of a child.
Gus Devereaux, 54, was arrested on Friday as he was going to work at Lawtey Correctional Institution in Bradford County, where he teaches GED classes to adult inmates.
Detectives said in a social media post that family members found the photos on Devereaux’s laptop in November. That’s when the investigation started. They said the photos were of a former student.

The victim reportedly told detectives that the photos were taken a few years ago when she was a minor. She said they were not sent to Devereaux and that he did not take the photos.
Detectives said the victim was Devereaux’s student in ninth grade, and that he would have known that she was a minor.
He left the school on Feb. 2, 2023, instead of being fired because of a different school investigation.
Devereaux was taken to the Bradford County Jail. He’ll later be extradited to Putnam County.
