Friends and neighbors mourn for woman found dead in her Westside home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bradla Cook, 61, was found dead in her home about one mile from where police found her car torched Wednesday night.

On Wednesday, police responded to a vehicle fire at 2548 Hyde Park Road. The fire was put out by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, and officials were able to identify a vehicle tag number.

The registration of the vehicle led officers to 6210 Harlow Boulevard, where they discovered Cook dead in her home. Police are investigating and said foul play is suspected.

Cook was well-liked by her friends and neighbors, who called her by her nickname, Bee.

“I don’t want to sound mean about it, but I honestly would rather it be somebody else than her,” Riley said.

According to Riley Cook lived in her home alone and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Cook's three dogs and the two dogs she was watching for her daughter were carried away. Neighbors watched as the dogs were taken and are now left wondering why.

“I’ve never known any enemy whatsoever for her,” Riley said.
