Girl Scouts of Gateway Council to host Northeast Florida Women of Distinction event

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Girl Scouts of Gateway Council will celebrate female leaders on Thursday, January 30, at the annual Northeast Florida Women of Distinction Winter Soirée.

The event, held at the Adam W. Herbert University Center, will recognize women who help embody and represent the Girl Scout Promise and Law by serving their communities as role models and helping to create significant change.

“Women of Distinction is our annual celebration to honor and highlight the incredible impact of women in leadership across Jacksonville,” says Wendy Dorel, CEO of Girls Scouts of Gateway Council. “We pay tribute to those who have paved the way before us and celebrate the trailblazers who are shaping the future for the women leaders of tomorrow.”

Honorees for the event include:

  • Whitney Meyer
    • Senior Vice President and Chief Community Impact Officer, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Dr. Olayemi Sokumbi
    • Associate Medical Director of the Department of Business Development, Mayo Clinic
  • Diana Sorfleet
    • Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, CSX

The event will be hosted by local Girl Scouts Esha Kasavaraju and Madeline Feretti, as well as a silent and live auction to raise funds for the program.
