A family is grateful their 6-year old is home safe after he was hit by a car while trying to get on his school bus.
It happened Thursday morning on Old Post Road in Glynn County.
Nathan Guest showed Action News Jax the scratches on his cheeks and forehead. Fortunately, that's about the extent of his injuries.
“I got hit by a car,” Guest said.
Nathan's grandfather said he was running to get on the bus that was stopped in front of their home.
Another driver didn't slow down fast enough.
“She couldn’t stop in time. She hit the brakes and knocked him about 10 feet,” said Nathan's grandfather Marcus Drury.
He ended up on the ground near a trash can. Nathan never lost consciousness.
“His head was bleeding and [so was] his cheek,” Drury said.
The driver got out of her car, and Drury said he screamed for her to call 911.
“I went and grabbed him to make sure he was alright,” Drury said.
Nathan was rushed to the hospital and is already on the mend.
“God was looking out for him, because he doesn’t have any injuries,” Drury said.
Action News Jax reached out to the school district, and they said they are investigating.
No word yet on if the driver will face any charges.
Skid marks are still on the road outside the family’s house. They tell me the driver was not paying attention and tried slamming on her brakes but it was too late. @ActionNewsJax pic.twitter.com/PrTUnoTPIH
