GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — After an hours-long SWAT standoff in Glynn County ended Friday afternoon with the arrest of a naked man who police will not name.
Police say the man, who is a Glynn County local, crashed an SUV that resembles a Chevy Equinox into a ditch and barricaded himself in the vehicle.
This happened on Hwy-17 near Exit 29 of I-95.
Multiple agencies spent roughly eight hours trying to get the man out of the SUV.

Police say concerned passersby called 9-1-1 around 5:30 in the morning after reporting the man was naked and that he said he had a bomb in the car and threatened to kill himself and others.
Charles Evans witnessed the standoff Friday morning on his way to work.”You never know what you’re gonna run into, what you’re going to see from day-to-day, I mean it’s some crazy people out here,” Evans said.

Glynn County Interim Police Chief Rick Evans says officers had to use tear gas Friday afternoon to get the man out of the SUV.
They then tazed him before putting him in custody and taking him to a hospital for mental evaluation.
Police believe he was under the influence.
”Time is on our side, and we wanted to make sure that we did this thing right and that no one was hurt including him,” Interim Chief Evans said.Police searched the SUV and the man’s home and found no weapons, Evans said.

Meanwhile, Charles Evans, who witnessed the standoff, is sympathetic toward the man.”It sounds funny but it’s not funny, because like I said, obviously you really don’t know what’s going on with that guy,” Evans said.
Police say the man likely faces charges of terroristic threats and acts.
