JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia counties are starting to release information about sandbag availability as Nicole moves toward Florida.
Action News Jax will continue to update information as we track Nicole.
Here is the information we have received from the following local counties:

Bradford County
Sandbags will continue to be available at self-serve sites, located at Bradford County Fire Rescue Station 40 in Heilbronn Springs and Station 90 in Sampson City. Bags and sand are provided, but please bring your own shovel. These sites will remain open until conditions warrant them unsafe.
Clay County
Sandbags will be available starting Wednesday from 8AM to 5PM. We will continue to offer bags until they’re gone or if it becomes unsafe for our employees to be in the conditions. The county will refill the sites with sand as needed.
You can pick up sandbags at the following locations:
- Fleming Island - 4387 Lakeshore Dr., Fleming Island
- Green Cove Springs - 25 Roderico Avenue, Green Cove Springs
- Keystone Heights - 555 South Lawerence Blvd, Keystone Heights
- Orange Park - 1086 Fromhart Street, Orange Park
Sandbags are limited to 10 bags per person.
You will have to fill up your own bags.
Nassau County
The County will have sandbags available at two locations:
- Yulee Road Department: 86200 Gene Lasserre Boulevard, Yulee, FL 32097
- Hilliard Road Department: 37356 Pea Farm Road, Hilliard, FL 32046
The sites will be open Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Bags are pre-filled and ready for pickup. Public Works personnel will be onsite to assist you. You will be required to show proof of residency.

Putnam County
Sandbags will be available at the following locations:
- Huntington Landfill, 1551 County Rd 308, Crescent City
- East Palatka Community Park, 223 Putnam County Blvd, East Palatka
- Chesser Pit, 145 West Washington, Hawthorne
- Palmetto Bluff Boat Ramp, 126 Boat Ramp Rd, Bostwick
- Riverside Fire Station 19, 101 Gail Dr, Satsuma
- Water Plant, 51 Sportsmans Dr, Welaka
The sandbag sites are self-serve. The county hopes to have crews at the Crescent City, East Palatka, and Hawthorne sites. Residents are asked to stay to a 10-bag limit.
St. Johns County
St. Johns County is providing free sandbags starting at 10 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2022, at three locations throughout the County in preparation for Nicole. The sand and the bags provided are free of charge. Residents must provide their transportation and shovels and are responsible for filling their bags. There is a maximum allocation of 20 bags per person. The sand and bags are available between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, until weather permits.
- Windswept Acres Park - 5335 SR A1A South
- North Beach Park - 3721 Coastal Highway
- Palm Valley - Underneath the Palm Valley Bridge on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway

Camden County
Sand and a limited number of sandbags are available for Camden County residents. All locations are self-service and you need to bring your own shovel. More info: http://bit.ly/3UmD0LL.

- Kingsland: 132 Royal Parkway (Sand Only)
- St. Marys: 819 Point Peter Road (Sand and Sandbags)
Woodbine:
- 1144 Godley Avenue (Camden County) (Sand and Sandbags)
- 1714 Bedell Avenue (City of Woodbine) (Sand Only)
Glynn County
In preparation for Tropical Storm Nicole, Glynn County Public Works has set up sand piles for citizens to utilize for sandbags. Sand can be found at Fire Station # 6 on HWY 17, Fire Station #3 in Sterling, and Ballard Recreation Center. The sand will be on a first come first serve basis and citizens need to bring their own sandbags and shovel or tools for loading.
