‘I hope they win the Super Bowl:’ Fans show support for Jags ahead of playoff game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It was always the Jags!

The countdown is on as fans gear up to watch Saturday night’s primetime playoff game: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Jaguars, who hold the title as AFC South champs, will kick off gameplay at 8:15 p.m.

Jaguars fan April Cooper has lived in Jacksonville for 20 years.

“They need this win,” Cooper said. “I hope they win the Super Bowl. That would just be so awesome.”

Cooper said wherever you plan to watch the game from -- it’s important to get loud and proud.

“You gotta’ show up and support your team,” Cooper said.

More than 70,000 people packed TIAA Bank Field during last Saturday’s game against the Titans.

Keonne Whitaker has lived in Jacksonville his entire life.

Here’s his take on the team.

“Phenomenal…Jags to the Super Bowl,” Whitaker said.

He’ll be watching the game from the stadium.

“A lot of crowd noise is what we need,” Whitaker said. “Everybody showing up tomorrow -- that’d be awesome.”

Action News Jax also spoke with Jaguars fan Kimano Edwards.

“I’m very excited to see the turnaround,” Edwards said. “I’m always a big fan of the comeback story.”

Edwards has lived in Jacksonville since 2013.

“To see where we were earlier in the season and a lot of people wrote us off -- for us to come back and re-emerge like a phoenix almost, it’s amazing,” Edwards said. “To see how their performance has kinda brought this renewed energy back into the city, the downtown crowd and as a whole -- I think the city is really proud of where the team is at right now.”
