PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Elmer Albarran, of Interlachen, was arrested after he attacked his brother with a machete on Sunday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the arrest report, Albarran’s brother told deputies Albarran attacked him with the machete during an argument. The victim was hit once across the arm and once across the stomach.

Deputies said the victim had lacerations that “were consistent with those of a knife cut.”
Albarran called law enforcement and wanted to meet to tell his side of the story.
According to the report, Albarran told deputies he went to pick up his mother. However, his brother started “yelling” that she shouldn’t go with Albarran because Albarran “never takes care of her.”
Albarran said the victim allegedly hit him with a stick. Albarran “head butted” the victim. Then the pair began punching one another and fell to the ground.
The brother charged again, and Albarran “kicked him in the chest which flew him back off.”

Albarran said he then left the scene.
According to the arrest report, Albarran “could not give [deputies] an answer” as to how the victim was cut.
Deputies arrested Albarran after speaking to him.
At the hospital, the victim confirmed he had grabbed a wooden stick during their argument, and the pair had exchanged punches.

Their mother told police “she had observed both the stick and machete” being used.
Albarran is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
