CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A town center will be popping up in Middleburg.
It’s called the Clay Town Center, and it will include a mix of retail, restaurants, hotels, professional offices, residential space and self-storage.
The developer says one of the major goals is to create a central destination within Clay County.

Allen Riggins has lived in Clay County for three and a half years.
“I think it’s great for the community to add and create some more jobs and more places for people to have around, instead of having to leave,” Riggins said.
Action News Jax learned Monday that Clay Town Center was awarded the 2022 Master Planning of Land Areas award, presented by the Florida Planning and Zoning Association (FPZA).
Ground broke for the project a year ago.
The development features internal roads and sidewalks to allow easy access for all users, with architectural elements that are aesthetically pleasing and consistent throughout all phases of the project.

The site is at the intersection of Branan Field Road and Old Jennings Road (County Road C 220 A), near the historical World War II, Branan Air Field.
Naja Bonner is the resort manager of Pet Paradise in Middleburg, a local business already running that’s included in the town center’s master site plan.
“I think it’ll be great,” Bonner said. “I think people are really growing towards this area. We’re seeing an intake in our business, as well. So I think it’ll be good to have people come drop their pets off and then like, get something to eat or go shopping nearby.”
The Clay Town Center’s website shows four phases within the project.
