The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a 10-year-old boy was on his bed playing video games when a bullet flew through his window and pierced him in the stomach.
The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m. Friday on Jessica Lane on the Westside in what JSO termed as a "deeply residential neighborhood" and ask anyone living on the street to share surveillance video.
The boy's gunshot wound was not serious but did require surgery.
Emmanuel Juanillo, who lives nearby, said he heard three gunshots.
"Just pop, pop, pop and then I call 911," Juanillo said. “I think that it’s not safe, you’re staying at home and then you’ll be shot.”
This JSO crime map search reveals 12 incidents of violent crime within a 1/2 mile radius of this shooting. Neighbor Emmanuel Juanillo spoke about how sad the shooting is.
