JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville City Councilwoman Kimberly Daniels' campaign has confirmed to Action News she was assaulted at a polling place on Monday.
Daniels' campaign said the assault happened at the Highlands Library on Dunn Avenue, which is a polling place for early voting.
The campaign for Daniels, who is running for re-election in Council-At-Large Group 1, said they are letting police handle the investigation.
Daniels' campaign would not give any more information as to who assaulted her or why.
Colleague and Councilwoman Denise Lee was at a forum with other city council candidates Monday and says this is an unfortunate situation.
"Politics is very volatile and extremely emotional," said Councilwoman Lee.
We did leave messages Monday for all of the candidates in this race. Anna Brosche's camp got in touch with us saying they didn't have anything to do with it. Terry Reed's campaign manager sent Action News a message saying they did not have anything to do with the fight that happened Monday.
