Jacksonville Humane Society Celebrates National Senior Citizen Day with free adoptions

Jacksonville — The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) and CarePlus Health Plans are working in tandem to waive adoption fees for senior citizens on Monday, August 22, to celebrate National Senior Citizen Day.

According to the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI), “Research has shown that pet ownership can provide important forms of social and emotional support for older adults that can reduce distress, loneliness and improve overall quality of life.”

The JHS Adoption Center is located at 8464 Beach Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32216. The JHS will be open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 22.

All pets are altered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fees are waived for qualifying adopters during this event; additional may apply. For more information, visit jaxhumane.org or call 904.725.8766.
