Jacksonville man's Pride flag vandalized, other flags stolen, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a criminal mischief complaint Friday, July 28, at 11:51 p.m. reporting a Pride flag had been cut or torn up the middle. The flag had been hanging on the victim's brick privacy wall.

The victim said he checks the wall multiple times a day because he has experienced previous problems with the flag being stolen or vandalized. The morning of this incident, he replaced a separate Pride flag after it had been stolen.

TRENDING:

The victim said he does not know who is stealing and vandalizing his flags. He said he has had long-running feuds with multiple neighbors in his neighborhood and said it could be any one of them.

The victim added that he has endured derogatory slurs in the past from neighbors. He also said he regularly hangs decorations on the same wall for other holidays (St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, and Jewish holidays) and none of them are ever damaged or stolen.

He does not have any video surveillance of the incidents.
