JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The mask mandate will be extended, according to City-spokesperson Nikki Kimbleton.

Monday was the expiration date for the Jacksonville City-Wide mask mandate, however the new expiration date, once the Mayor finalizes the order, will be on February 24.

Mayor Lenny Curry has been extending the mandate every month since it was implemented in late June.

The mandate, which requires a mask or other face-covering to be worn indoors for people older than age 6 when they cannot socially distance. The mandate allows businesses to remove anyone not wearing a mask unless they fall under one of the exceptions. Those exceptions includes dining, going to the dentist, getting a hair cut, or if a face mask prevents someone from receiving service at a business.

The mandate must be renewed every 30 days by Mayor Lenny Curry or it will expire.
