The Florida Department of Children and Families said the mother did not have parental rights of the child, and at the time of the stabbing, the mother was visiting the child’s home.
On Sept. 22, 2021, court records show Mayo was found not guilty by reason of insanity.
She was deemed unable to stand trial and placed in a mental health treatment facility.
