A local mother is pushing for policy change in Duval County schools.
Lisa Acker says her 17-year-old daughter Riauna Campbell was attacked by her lockers at Sandalwood High School in March.
The altercation was captured on cellphone video.
According to Acker, both students were suspended because the school considered the fight "mutual combat."
The mom tells Action News Jax she would like to press charges against the 18-year-old who was involved in the fight.

Usually, she says, school resources officers have to initiate the process of pressing charges.
“Since they thought it was mutual combat they didn’t give me any type of paperwork or initiate anything to the state attorney’s office for me to press charges,” explained Acker.
She says she took the video to the office herself and now they’re investigating.
Acker feels the student code of conduct doesn’t do enough to protect students who defend themselves during fights.
“They need to take a look at these policies that govern kids at the school," she said.

Action News Jax has reached out to the Duval County School District to see if it’s reviewing how it handled the fight and Acker’s complaint.
We’re waiting for a response.
Acker says her daughter is scarred physically and emotionally.
“She told me she felt insignificant and that really bothered me," Acker said.
We’ve also contacted the state attorney’s office to confirm it is investigating the case.
