Jacksonville neighbors called police before house party shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office 911 call log shows neighbors called about a Westside party several times before it turned deadly.

There were 40 to 50 people at the Liska Drive party, according to police.

Nineteen-year old Jonah Golden was shot and killed at the party following an argument early Saturday morning. Another person was grazed by a bullet and treated on scene.

There are still bullet holes in the front door of the house.

Records show neighbors down the street called police three times between the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Then several calls were made by people at the house. The first of those calls came shortly before 2:30 a.m., when police responded to the shooting.

Neighbors told us off-camera the party was out of control and should have been broken up by police.

They also said several of the partygoers’ cars were blocking neighbors’ driveways

We have asked JSO why officers did not break up the party.

The tenants of the Liska Drive house declined to talk to us about the party.

Sean Brown grew up on the street, and his mother still lives there. He says the neighborhood used to be mainly military housing, but has since become more dangerous.

“It’s changed a lot,” said Brown. “I’m trying to get my mom to move.”

There are still no suspects at this time.
