A Jacksonville mother said she is disgusted with her son’s school lunch at Duval Charter School at Westside.

Tracey Paris shared a picture of what’s supposed to be a hotdog on Facebook. In the comments, some people suggested it looked like an éclair or rib.

Paris said she wouldn’t feed it to her dog.

“That is the grossest hotdog I’ve ever seen,” Paris said. “It’s definitely unacceptable to serve kids or anyone food like that.”

Action News Jax brought the parents’ concerns to the charter school.

Colleen Reynolds, spokesperson for Charter Schools USA and Duval Charter School at Westside, said it's not the standard of quality they expect and is not reflective of the overall food quality.

“Clearly, this hotdog was overcooked and should not have been served,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said they have spoken to their new food service management company, SLA, and employees will receive additional training.

DCSW said it recently changed food services to SLA, and have found the vast majority of meals and food quality rated above average.
