Jacksonville police arrest suspect in fatal Moncrief Road shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they’ve made an arrest in a June shooting on Moncrief Road W. Officers were called to the 4300 block of Moncrief Road W. on June 17 and found 51-year-old Craig Caldwell shot to death in the roadway, a JSO news release states.

Detectives said their investigation lead them to naming Michael Smith Jr., 33, as a suspect. Smith was arrested Monday and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the news release states.
