JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another seriously hurt Sunday night at the River City Landing apartments.

UPDATE: Police said two people were shot while sitting in a car inside the River City Landing Apartments across from Jacksonville University.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office say they received reports of gunfire in the 2600 block of University Blvd North. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in the middle of the street with two people inside.
They were taken to a local hospital by JFRD where one person was pronounced deceased and the other person was admitted with life-threatening injuries.

JSO says the vehicle was inside the apartment complex when the shooting occurred.
The vehicle then drove to the entrance on University Blvd North where the vehicle stopped, police stated.
Detectives are speaking with potential witnesses and searching for any surveillance video.
People who live inside the apartment complex are unable to leave the complex, and people coming home are unable to bring their cars inside the complex.
