Jacksonville police investigating potential homicide on the eastside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that officers responded to a shooting fatality early Sunday morning.

According to Sgt. Mike Russell of JSO, officers were dispatched to 888 Franklin St., which is the Downtown East Apartments, in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an unresponsive man in his late 30s.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced the man dead at the scene and transported him to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

In addition to the Medical Examiner, JSO currently has homicide and crime scene detectives investigating this individual’s death.
