Jacksonville, Fla. — A woman was being treated at a Jacksonville hospital Tuesday morning after two gunmen broke into her apartment on the Southside. Police say the assailants forced entry into her unit at Vista Bay Apartments in the 8700 block of Belle Rive Boulevard at about 2 a.m.

Gunfire was exchanged and the woman was shot in her stomach, Jacksonville police said at a news briefing outside of the complex Tuesday morning. The shooters got away and the victim was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, police said.
Another person who was inside of the apartment with the woman was not injured. Police said they do not believe the victim knew the shooters and it’s unknown if she was targeted.
