JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead after he was found shot behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a front yard in Durkeeville on Monday morning.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers responded around 9:35 a.m. to the 1000 block of West 8th Street.

Police found the man in the car with at least one gunshot wound and he was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, JSO said.
Just before police were called about the crash, they received a call about an altercation and reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of West 8th Street.

Investigators believe this call is related to the shooting.
Two people are detained in connection with the incident at this time, JSO said.
Police are still working to figure out the relationships of those involved and the circumstances of the incident.
