JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Downtown Jacksonville Main Library will reopen to the public next month after being used as a COVID-19 treatment site.
The downtown branch was closed in August so the space could be used as a Regeneron monoclonal antibody treatment site. According to the city of Jacksonville, to date, 11,352 patients have received treatment at this location since Aug. 17.
In a tweet Tuesday, Mayor Lenny Curry said the decision to move the treatment site to an alternate location came after the dramatic reduction in local COVID-19 cases.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 10, the Regeneron site will relocate to Joseph Lee Center located at 5120 Perry St. The hours of operation are still Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“I want to thank Governor DeSantis for his support providing this life-saving treatment to our citizens as we continue to fight against COVID-19,” Curry wrote. “My team will release more information to the media today, including the cleaning plan, library hours, and new Regeneron location.”
The library will reopen on Dec. 13.
1. I'm pleased to announce that beginning 12/13, the main branch of the @jaxlibrary will reopen to the public. We are fortunate to have a dramatic reduction in COVID-19 cases in the @CityofJax, allowing us to move the monoclonal antibody treatment to an alternate location. pic.twitter.com/VjzXgCW99B
