Jacksonville Sheriff's Office makes arrest in a December slaying

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office made an arrest in a slaying.

On Dec. 22, 2018, Sheriff's Office patrol officers were dispatched to the Paxon area in reference to someone having been shot.

JSO said the patrol officers arrived and found the victim deceased.

JSO has identified the suspect arrested Wednesday as Corey Carns, 20. He was taken into custody without incident by the JSO SWAT team, who had a warrant for his arrest.

According to JSO, the victim and suspect were acquaintances, but the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

On April 10, the suspect was arrested by JSO SWAT without incident, with a warrant.
