The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office wants to know who shot and killed a man outside his home early Tuesday morning off Hammond Boulevard.
His family was just feet away inside the home when the man was shot.
JSO hasn’t released the name of the victim, but a family friend say it’s Jody Lipp.
That same friend learned about Lipp’s death as he walked into work today.
“I came into work and my pops hit me up and told me and said, 'Did you hear about Jody?' and I said 'Nah,' and that’s when he let me know what happened,” Michael Logan said.
Logan said he grew up with Lipp’s family and got his first tattoo job from Lipp. He said Lipp was a local tattoo artist as well, and was beloved.
“First off as a family man, Jody always took care of his people no matter what,” Logan said.
Logan said Lipp's death will have a lasting impact on his family and the community.
