Jax Beach man accused of stabbing girlfriend during argument

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A man is in jail after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend during an argument Monday, Jacksonville Beach Police said.

Officers responded to a stabbing call in the 600 block of 16th Street North around 12:15 a.m. Monday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene, police said they found a female victim on the floor “bleeding profusely” from a stab wound in the arm. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police said the victim’s boyfriend, Christopher Michael Cathey, was interviewed by detectives on the scene. Detectives said that Cathey was intoxicated and became upset with the victim. He then, according to police, threw a fixed blade knife at the victim and it hit her in the right arm.

Cathey was arrest for charges of Aggravated Battery with a deadly weapon and is in the Duval County Jail with a bond of $500,003.
