A Jacksonville Sheriff's officer’s rifle is in the wrong hands after it was stolen out of an unmarked patrol car.
It happened May 7 at a home on Old Plank Road on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The officer told JSO he parked the cruiser in the backyard of his mother’s house. Two hours later, he noticed the trunk was open and equipment was missing.
According to the report, a Taser, tactical vest and two sets of handcuffs were also stolen.

The officer said he had the keys to the vehicle in his pocket and he wasn’t sure how someone could have popped the trunk without the keys.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
Police searched for fingerprints but were unsuccessful.
There is no suspect description.
