Action News Jax sources said the victim shot in a Jacksonville hotel Sunday is an off-duty Brevard County Sheriff's Office employee.
Brevard County deputies said he had surgery and should survive. They said he was visiting the area, and is not being identified at this time.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened in a room at the Lexington Hotel on the Southbank around 4:45 a.m. Sunday.
Police said two guests were arguing during the early morning hours and it escalated to gunfire. One man shot another man multiple times in the stomach, according to police.
"We believe there’s alcohol involved, can’t specific exactly what it was. It was an ongoing thing through the night and apparently it escalated to someone getting shot."
