The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic situation late Sunday night at the Park Levanzo Apartment Homes.
JSO met with witnesses who said they heard what sounded like a man beating a woman in one of the apartment as well as seeing a woman try to flee when a man chased after her, grabbed her and dragged her back into the apartment.
According to the witnesses, there was also a small child with them.
After JSO attempted to make contact with the people in the apartment, they called SWAT onto the scene due to a potential hostage situation.
Shortly after 3:15 a.m. SWAT could be seen clearing the scene after the woman and child were able to leave the apartment and JSO was able to take the suspect into custody when he exited the apartment shortly after.
The suspect was identified as Korey Richardson and is being charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment.
Richardson is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Monday at 1 p.m.
