The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office have identified the teen killed in a traffic crash early Thursday as Dontavious Joseph, 17.
At approximately 1:01 a.m Thursday morning, a single car crash occurred at Cassat Avenue near Lenox Avenue trapping three people and killing another.
JSO says a driver drove recklessly on Lennox. An officer saw the vehicle while he conducted an unrelated traffic stop on another vehicle. He tried to stop the vehicle and turned on his lights. They say the driver crashed into a fence. @ActionNewsJax @WOKVNews pic.twitter.com/qhh9TYHH8h

When the vehicle hit a fence, one man ejected and JFRD pronounced him dead at the scene. Three others are in serious condition. One of those three has life threatening injuries. @ActionNewsJax @WOKVNews pic.twitter.com/zLJwXYWcgw

JSO said the officer began calling it in, turned on his lights, and what was described as almost immediately, the reckless vehicle hit a fence two times, flipped, and slid on its side.

Joseph was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Three others inside the vehicle were transported to a local hospital. One was transported in life-threatening condition and two were transported in serious condition.

JSO said the car involved in the crash was a stolen vehicle. A stolen gun was also recovered at the scene.

This is an active investigation. JSO said this is the 35th reported traffic fatality in 2018.
