The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said two children were shot while walking on Union Street near the Jacksonville Fair early Sunday.

The exact ages of the victims were not released. One child was hit in the leg and the second was hit in the torso. One of the victims is in life-threatening condition, police said.

The shooting occurred at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, when officers working at the Fair heard the shots.

Both victims were taken to UF Health. No suspects have been identified, JSO said, and detectives are working to find witnesses.

JSO said it had "no evidence" the shooting was gang-related.

Officials increased security at the Jacksonville fair after reports of several fights last week.

A viewer sent Action News Jax video of the brawl.

“I don’t think it’s fair that the fair is getting a bad name," Gayle Hart with the Jacksonville Fairgrounds said. “We’re trying our best to make everyone feel safe."

An 18-year-old told police he was leaving the fair Nov. 4 when he was shot in the back. Several other cars were hit by gunfire.
