JSO: Two people reported shot in Moncrief

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said that two people were reported shot near West 36th Street and Grunthal Street Friday evening.

The Sheriff's Office said it was alerted to the shooting by ShotSpotter.

The Sheriff's Office said the call was updated to two people shot and when deputies arrived, they found a man and woman with gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to the hospital and, according to JSO, were considered stable at last check.

Neighbors told Action News Jax reporter Meghan Moriarty that they heard several gunshots.

Moriarty spoke with a mother and her 7-year-old daughter who say they heard gunshots and saw a pool of blood.

When Action News Jax arrived at the scene on West 36th Street just off of Moncrief Road, the street was roped off with crime scene tape and dozens of people were outside.

Neighbors also told Moriarty that they heard gunshots and then a woman ran inside someone's home and collapsed.

The 7-year-old Moriarty spoke to with her mother's permission said: "I don't know what happened. I just heard it. I just heard four shots and then my cousin said, 'Go out the back door.'"

Moriarty asked the little girl, "And were you scared at all?" The little girl responded, "No ma'am."

Moriarty asked her, "Is this normal for you?  She responded, "Yes, ma'am."

The Sheriff's Office said it believes the shooting was the result of some sort of altercation.

Several people have been detained and are being interviewed by police, according to JSO.

JSO said a weapon was recovered at the scene.
