JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority and Agape Family Health are partnering to create Wellness on Wheels - a mobile vaccination program.
Two buses have been reworked to become vaccination sites and will travel to underserved area in Jacksonville to help seniors get access to vaccines when they normally couldn’t.
“Wellness on Wheels is the first partnership of its kind in the state of Florida, we’re the first public transportation agency in the state of Florida to rework our buses for a mobile vaccination clinic. We believe that in order to help stop the spread of COVID-19, we’ve got to bring these vaccines to as many people as possible,” David Cawton, the Communications Director for JTA.
The program launched Friday at the Centennial Towers. They hope to vaccinate 500 people a week.
