Kid Care Report: Two Jacksonville child care centers have repeat clean inspections

Every week Action News Jax investigates local child care centers to show you how they measure up to state guidelines.

In this week's Kid Care report, Letisha Bereola visited Deermeadows Preschool, a center that stood out from the rest for all the right reasons.
The center located in the Baymeadows area had a consistent track record of clean inspections.
When the state inspector stopped by, there were 118 children at the center, 31 staff members working. Everything from the record-keeping to staff training was 100 percent up to speed with no violations.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Bereola checked the center's past state inspections and found since 2017, Deermeadows Preschool has never had a violation, according to the Department of Children and Families' records.

Director Heather Feltman gave a lot of credit to her team: "Most of our girls have been here over 20 years so they know what they need to do. It's pretty easy when you have a good staff like that."

The second day care in this week's report is Bright Horizons at the Avenues off Southside Boulevard. It had nine back-to-back clean inspections, including its latest one this month.

Bereola reached out to learn how the center manages to get repeat clean inspections. We will update this story once we hear back.
