LIST: Closures, cancellations and postponements due to weather in the Jacksonville area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A nor’easter affecting the Jacksonville area on Friday -- and into Saturday -- caused closures, cancellations and postponements.

Here is a list of the events and entities affected. We will update this list with new information as it becomes available.

First Alert Weather Day: Expect heavy rain, cooler weather Friday

• Due to inclement weather, the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Food service is limited and ground acts and mechanical rides are halted as a result. For more info on the fair schedule, visit jacksonvillefair.com.
• The Jacksonville Porch Fest is canceled due to weather. Organizers said they’re working on creating a fun alternative for Saturday night and Sunday.
• The Wounded Warrior Project Carry Forward 5K, which was set to take place on Saturday at 8 a.m. at WWP’s headquarters on Belfort Road, is being postponed. A makeup date has not been set yet.
• The City of Fernandina Beach said Seaside Park/Sadler Road beach parking is closed for the remainder of the day on Friday. Calhoun/Dade/Escambia Streets between 6th and 8th Streets are also closed and additional closures may occur as needed. The Community Yard Sale scheduled for Saturday has been postponed until November 13.
• The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful’s 13th annual Right Whale Beach Cleanup, which was set to be held Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. in Jacksonville Beach, has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
• As of 9 a.m. Friday, all beach gates in St. Johns County are temporarily closed to vehicular access due to tidal flooding.
• The Neptune Beach drive-thru COVID testing site run by Telescope Health closed for the day Friday due to inclement weather and will reopen Monday (11/8) at 7 a.m.
• The drive-thru flu shot event scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6 in Kingsland in Camden County has been canceled due to anticipated bad weather, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health Coastal Health District. The event will be rescheduled and a new date and time will be announced as soon as possible.
• Due to inclement weather forecasted for Friday night, the halftime Homecoming festivities at Ware County High School have been postponed until next Friday, November 12 at the first round HOME playoff game. The pep rally will proceed as scheduled at Ware County High School and the game is still scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Homecoming Dance scheduled for Saturday, November 6, 2021 will proceed as scheduled at Ware County High School. The dance will begin at 8:00 p.m. and conclude at 11:30 p.m.
