JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Update, 2 p.m.: The Code Yellow lockdown at Sandalwood High School and Alden Road Exceptional Student Center has been lifted.

Sandalwood High School and Alden Road Exceptional Student Center have been placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area.
Duval County Public Schools said students and staff members are safe.
Action News Jax saw police officers searching a wooded-area on Whispering Woods Boulevard on the ground and by air. Police said they are looking for an armed suspect who displayed a firearm after some sort of argument. The area is near two Jacksonville schools, prompting a lockdown.

DCPS said parents and guardians should not come to the schools at this time.

Good morning Sandalwood and Alden Road Families, <br/> This is Duval County Public Schools calling quickly to inform you that we have police activity in the area, and as a result, these school have been placed on lockdown. I repeat, due to police activity in the area, Sandalwood High School and Alden Road Exceptional Student Center are currently on lock down for the safety and security of students and staff. Please do not come to the schools at this time, and we will keep you informed as the situation evolves. Thank you.
