DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Firefighters are trying to find out what caused smoke inside a school on Tuesday.
Several Jacksonville Fire and Rescue units responded to Love Grove Elementary on reports of a possible electrical fire.
The elementary school was evacuated around 11 a.m. as fire trucks blocked off the entrance.
Lisa Moulten saw the commotion on her way home.
“When I came around and saw the fire trucks, my heart stopped beating because my grandson and neighborhood kids go there,” Moulten said.
Students waited in the parking lot until things were clear.
“In this building, which is the kindergarten wing, all of the classrooms had either light to moderate smoke in each room,” said Tom Francis of JFRD.
“My only thought is how scared the children must be,” Moulten said.
But Moulten said she’s glad everybody is safe.
JFRD officials are still trying to figure out where the smoke originated.
