Low-pressure system could become tropical next week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An area of low pressure over west Kentucky, Tennessee and northern Mississippi is expected to drift south over the next couple of days.

It will eventually move into the Gulf of Mexico, where it could form into a subtropical or tropical system.
Westward movement is expected from there, moving toward the northern Gulf Coast of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

While this may slightly increase the threat for rain for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, this will have no other impact to the local area.

Interests along the northern Gulf should stay tuned to the First Alert Forecast as we monitor its progress.
