The alleged attacker was Schemitz’s ex-boyfriend, Spencer Pearson.
St. Johns County deputies say Pearson stabbed 17-year-old Schemitz 15 times. Her mother was stabbed in the forehead and leg. Armstrong’s hand was badly injured in the attack when he tried to stop it.
Investigators say Pearson, 18, then tried to take his own life, slashing his throat.
If he survives, he will be charged with attempted murder.
