JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police have arrested a man after National Football League cameras caught him on the field during a touchdown play at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ game on Sunday, before he was escorted out of view.

It turns out he was working at the Jags’ game against the Houston Texans, according to his arrest report, but now he’s been fired.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report identified him as Michael Stephenson, 53, of Jacksonville Beach.

On Sunday afternoon, the stadium’s guest services supervisor notified an off-duty JSO officer, who was working as a field security officer at TIAA Bank Field at the time, about the incident.

The officer then spoke with the stadium manager, who told police that Stephenson was a guest services employee at the stadium, but was fired “the moment he abandoned his post,” according to the arrest report.

Stephenson was no longer an employee when JSO said he entered the area that requires special credentials by the NFL because of COVID-19 restrictions.

The arrest report stated he had removed his work uniform and was wearing a Jaguars jersey.

He was taken into custody on a trespassing charge without incident.
