Man hospitalized after Downtown Jacksonville shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville police said an argument after midnight resulted in a man being shot several times downtown. JSO was called to the 200 block of E. Bay Street at about 12:05 a.m. Friday for a report of a shooting.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man in his mid 50s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, a JSO news release states. The victim was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The initial investigation revealed the victim had just left a nearby business after getting into an argument,” the JSO news release states. “As the victim tried to leave the area he was shot at multiple times.”

Person dies near Edward Waters University

Just before 2 a.m., Jacksonville police were called to another incident where the victim died. Police say it occurred at 2000 College Circle S., minutes from Edward Waters University.
