JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — DCPS said the code red has been lifted and the school has been cleared for dismissal.
All after school activities will resume as normal.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Action News Jax has confirmed with Duval County Public Schools that Mandarin High School is on a code red lockdown.
- DCPS tweeted that all students and staff are safe.
- DCPS released a statement at 1:19 p.m. that said the school was placed on code red lockdown due to allegations that a student was in possession of a firearm.
- The student has been detained by police and no firearm was found, according to DCPS.
- Police are searching the school to determine if there is a firearm on campus, according to DCPS.
- The school will remain on code red will the police search the campus, DCPS said.
- DCPS is asking parents and guardians to not come to the school at this time because the school is on code red lockdown.
- DCPS said student dismissal will be delayed.
