Mike Freeland Foundation hosting first event for fallen Jacksonville firefighter

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — You can put on your sneakers and fancy clothes to support a foundation named for a fallen Jacksonville firefighter.

The Mike Freeland Foundation is hosting its first event in June. The inaugural fundraiser has been dubbed “Sneaker Soiree” in honor of Mike and those attending are asking those attending to wear their favorite sneakers and after-five attive.

The fundraiser is set for Jun. 17 at the Jacksonville Association Firefighters Hall on 2516 Phyllis St. The event is set to take place from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

There will be live music, dancing and food.

Action News Jax’s own Dawn Lopex will be emceeing the event.

The Mike Freeland Foundation provides services and resources to teen moms.

JFRD engineer Freeland died suddenly in November of 2021 while working to save a woman involved in a serious crash.
